Down in Mississippi and Up to Good!

Tomorrow night at 9 - we board a bus along with 30 excited youth for an 18 hour drive to Gulfport Mississippi. Its hard to believe that even though the Hurricane Katrina disaster is so far away and removed from most of our thoughts - down there it is a constant reminder daily. Countless people are still holding out hope - hope for a return to a normal life and hope for a return to a home and not a FEMA trailer. Our mission is to work along with Hope Crisis Response Network in order to help build homes for those who are still displaced from theirs. I like to say we are building up Homes full of HOPE. Hope that can only be found in and through Jesus!

We eagerly accept this task and are so full of wonder for what God will have in store for us next week. Prayers? You bet we will take them! Keep them coming.

See you all in a week =)

Dog Days of Summer

Every since I came back from spending a week at my Uncle Mike's - I really haven't been sleeping in the bed. So mom must have decided this was a good opportunity to teach me to not get in or sleep in their bed at all times...but this morning I must have looked too pitiful and sleepy because when mom came out of the bathroom from taking her shower - she didn't make me get out of bed and I got a good cat nap in!

Update!??

Ok - so everyone keeps asking where the vacation picture are - Well we didn't take any!! Seriously I think I took a total of 5 pictures. Most days we didn't even bother to tote the camera around. If you have a camera then you have to go through the "guests with bags" security lines at the parks. No camera - you breeze right thru the "guests without bags" line. It was a really wonderful vacation - not necessarily because of all we did -but because we felt like we were gone forever and never thought about work (very little anyway!) Of course this vacation started off with a bang - within 10 minutes of being in the condo - I was already in a position to have to figure out the nearest Emergency Room - thanks to Matt cutting his foot open from a glass falling off the counter. Short story - blood everywhere, garbage bag tourniquet, a quick trip to Walgreens, liquid bandage works miracles, and no trip to the ER necessary!

We ate lots of wonderful meals and even tried to eat our way around the countries at Epcot - we didn't make it though! Our last night was wonderful - we booked a reservation at the Concorse Steakhouse located in Disneys Contemporary Resort. We had a wonderful meal and then we boarded the monorail over to check out the Grand Floridian Resort -from there we took a boat to Magic Kingdom and then another boat over to explore the Wilderness Lodge. It was cool to be able to check out and explore the high end Disney Resorts and it was also just fun and relaxing to be able to chill out and ride the boats all around on the Disney property.

The next morning we woke up an hour later than we had set our 2 ALARMS - luckily though we made it to the airport with a little time to spare and then we were off back to Detroit and back to reality.

Our next trip? Well its a couple weeks away already - leaving on June 28 for Biloxi Miss. with our youth group to help out Hope Crisis Network and build some houses for Hurricane Katrina relief. Its sure to be super hot - but also super rewarding.

Yesterday we celebrated 7 YEARS of Marriage!!! Our special anniversary meal? Hot dogs on the grill! Nothing but the best for my love!

Well that's about it for now!
